Semantix, a Brazilian company specializing in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence, has announced an agreement to acquire Atos’ operations in South America, significantly expanding its regional footprint and reinforcing its ambition to become one of Latin America’s leading technology and AI platforms.
Once the transaction is completed, Semantix will operate in seven countries: Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, Mexico, and Peru. According to the company, the deal positions Semantix as one of the continent’s largest integrated ecosystems for technology, data, and artificial intelligence.
Regional Expansion and Greater Scale
Founded in Brazil in 2010, Semantix began as a lean operation focused on the strategic potential of data to transform businesses. The acquisition comes at a pivotal moment in the company’s trajectory, following an internal reorganization aimed at boosting efficiency and agility.
In 2022, Semantix went public on the Nasdaq, reaching a market valuation of approximately $1 billion. Subsequently, founder Leonardo Santos repurchased the company and adopted a “founder mode” approach, taking a more hands-on role in management to streamline processes, strengthen company culture, and accelerate decision-making.
As a result, the company reported a 37% increase in revenue in the second half of 2025 compared to the previous six-month period.
Expanded Portfolio and Stronger Technological Capabilities
The integration of Atos’ operations is expected to significantly enhance Semantix’s scale, geographic reach, and solutions portfolio. Beyond data and AI, the company will now offer services in cybersecurity, cloud computing, automation, application management, and SAP solutions.
According to Semantix, incorporating Atos’ operational structure strengthens its leadership position and expands its ability to serve large enterprise clients and highly regulated industries.
Ambitious Growth Plan
Semantix has set an aggressive growth target: the company aims to increase its size tenfold over the next five years. The acquisition also provides access to a broader customer base and a more robust regional presence.
Under the agreement, Semantix becomes Atos’ preferred supplier in South America, ensuring continuity of service for both local clients and global companies operating in the region.
New Leadership and Long-Term Vision
The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory and legal approvals. Following the completion, Nelson Campelo, currently head of Atos South America, will take on the role of CEO of Semantix.
Meanwhile, founder and current CEO Leonardo Santos Poça D’água will transition to the position of Executive Chairman, focusing on strategy, innovation, and long-term expansion.
Commenting on the deal, Campelo said the combined regional operations create a solid foundation for growth. “By joining forces with Semantix, a leader in data and AI, we are entering a new phase of expansion aimed at generating value for customers and partners,” he said.
Leonardo Santos described the agreement as a defining milestone. “This is a historic step for a Brazilian company to assume regional leadership. With Atos’ operational base, we can accelerate the delivery of data and AI solutions with strong governance for regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and energy. Our mission is to use technology to improve efficiency and transform these industries,” he said.
